Read articleThe Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) gives short-term financial relief to workers who lose their income due to unemployment, maternity, adoption, parental leave, illness, or the death of a contributor. If you and your employer contributed to the fund while you were employed, you can usually claim.
Our calculators use the same income replacement rate (IRR) sliding scale and credit-day rules published by the Department of Employment and Labour. They give a close estimate, but the final amount is confirmed by the UIF when your claim is processed.
